Pastel drawings on paper.

These drawings have multiples layers of pastels rubbed onto the paper.
I was again inspired by aboriginal and other primitive artworks. The lines are simple, yet the symbolism and the colors are strong and can carry intense emotions.

Relationships Series:

In the following work, I was interested in incorporating my favorite magazine into my artwork. I am fascinated by the power of words in prints and in the verbal expressions within relationships. On a technical aspect, I like the texture it gives on the canvas. I used the spaces of the grid to show different kinds of relationships between various entities.
The circles are cut outs of acrylic paint, like in several of my works (see Blooming, Chapi-Chapo, etc.) and the black lines are rope. It gives a 3D effect to the painting.

my latest blocks

I discovered the pleasures of working acrylic paint with a knife. I can pretend to be a sculptor working on clay, or a chef mastering a creamy ganache ! I can create lots of texture with the paint itself, make raw edges or smooth the surface as if it were butter!
Click on each painting below and zoom to see the interesting effects.

Blocks series

My squares and rectangles are taking first place in my Block series. They came out of the background. I like how they seem to float on the canvas, slowly moving towards or away from each other, using the space as their playground.
